Post-Pregnancy To Do's

As you most likely know by now, I had my first baby back in May and since then life has changed... a lot.

I love being a mom, caring for my very own little being, waking up with his giggles, and watching him grow and evolve.

It's truly the most amazing thing that has ever happened to me and I often wonder why I waited for so long to experience this... Well, I do know why but this is a subject for a different post :)

Having said all that, I must admit that one thing was really bothering me after I had TJ: baby weight.

As a true Carioca (AKA born in Rio), I was always very connected to my body from an aesthetics point of view. I was never a gym rat, obsessed with weights and all that jazz but I did care about how I looked in my favourite pair of jeans or in a bikini.

6 weeks after TJ was born I decided it was time to do something about the extra weight that was hunting me. My doctor had said it was ok for me to exercise again and so I started...

That's right - 'booty' with a 'y'.

A training program 100% focused on women and possibly one of the toughest things ('exercise-wise', after all I had just given birth to someone for God's sake!) I've ever experienced at a gym.

Squats, lunges, crunches, sit-ups, planks, you name it. We did it all!

I would highly recommend Bootycamp to anyone seeking to shed some weight and tone up. I've not only lost some weight but also regained my beloved waist.

I never imagined that I would enjoy the strengthening and toning routine so much!

Exercise won't do any good to you if your diet is crap.

And so I decided to change my diet too. All I can say is that I heart the Paleo Diet!

My Bootycamp coaches prescribed this great diet based on the Paleo Diet.

I decided then to go full blast on Paleo and I can safely say that it really made me feel healthier and energetic (much needed when you have a brand new wee baba at home!).

Interval Training

Now that I am enjoying the summer in Rio I've decided to join a group of athletes to focus on one of my favourite exercises out there - running.

Rio is the best city to exercise outdoors so I am making the most of my time here.

One of my goals is to run a marathon - maybe in 2015? - and these guys are really good at getting people up to the level needed when a marathon is what they wanna do.

I am working with a sports training team called Walter Tuche. They target people like you and I who want to do extraordinary things but don't know where to start.

If you are ever in Rio, give them a go... very motivating and extremely exciting!

Well, for now, this is where I am at...
