I know: you come to London, so many things to see within the city and someone mentions this crazy idea to go to Richmond (which some people consider a different town altogether) and visit a flower nursery for food. Uhn? Well, if the nursery in question is Petersham do not hesitate. And I really mean it. Specially if your mood as a tourist is more of a traveler and you like to experience an unique London. Seriously, London has so many (infinite) facets.
Petersham is a relaxed place in Richmond (not too far from the city center) that is a nursery (with lots of amazing flowers, trees, pots and garden related items). Aside from this little fact it is also a place for great food. They have a tea house with a self service combos of great salads/quiche (some great cakes too) and a sit-down restaurant they call the 'cafe' (a little confusing!) with an exquisite local produce menu and super wines (reservations advisable).
My ideal weekend includes a stroll/walk through Richmond Park and a stop by Petersham for food (a lot of locals do the same). Once a year the 'cafe' opens at night (very sought after). This was one of the best dinners I have had in London so far. Need I say more: Go!
