If you are in London one thing is certain: you will end up in the Soho area one way or another. This central area is packed with stores, restaurants, bars, hotels, famous Piccadilly and Oxford Circus... you get the idea.
When in Soho, you can explore famous Regent's and Oxford's streets with all their mega stores (most brands have pretty big stores here), you can eat at chain restaurants, BUT you can also find some of London's great food places. Two of them are part of this post.
Sketch is located right on the border of 'formal' Soho, a 5 minute walk will grant you a great experience and a different take on your traditional British tea. I have only been there during tea time but heard dinner is also amazing. The place is beautiful, you get a full tea with champagne or non-alcoholic bubbly for less than 45 pounds. Not cheap I know but consider the pics below before you make a decision!
The other great gastro experience is NOPI, one of Ottolenghi's many ventures in town. Known for its use of the freshest ingredients his places boast amazing flavors. NOPI offers superb mediterranean salads, mains and desserts you can share, all in three different ambiences (downstairs with communal tables, upstairs with separate tables and stools at the bar).
Curiously, both places have amazing must visit bathrooms. I think it is always fun when you have interesting bathrooms in restaurants. Discuss!
