Avoca Handweavers is a clothing manufacturing, shops and cafe business from Ireland.
Started in Avoca, Co. Wicklow in 1723, it is the oldest working woollen mill in Ireland and one of the world's oldest manufacturing companies. It is also Ireland's oldest surviving business.
Enough history now... :)
What you really need to know is that Avoca is most likely the coolest little place you will ever meet.
The food at their cafe is fab - they are famous for the home baking! - the products they sell at their shops are unique and make great presents and their staff is so so friendly.
If I am in the mood to drive, I visit the Avoca Kilmacanogue. It's a big shop with gorgeous landscaping. Fern Cafe is always a great option for brekkie or for a power brunch. Try the mushrooms on toast for brekkie with some sparkling lemonade or the seafood platter for brunch / lunch. Yummyness!
If I don't want to drive that far, I go to Salt Cafe in Monkstown. It's super close to my house and they have a wonderful selection of fruit & veg, organic stuff, a cheese room (yep, you read it right!) and delicious treats. Try the gluten free chico chip cookies - to die for!
Note - You need to arrive early - both places get booked out quickly, mainly on weekends.
